Peter’s Pizzeria

2/55391 Inglis St Halifax

Peter’s Pizzeria is situated only minutes from Saint Mary’s University, located near the corner of Inglis and Barrington, making it a great location for university students to grab a quick slice. Tucked into a small building, Peter’s Pizzeria gives the traditional sense of a small joint pizza parlor.

When entering, the first impression isn’t a particularly spectacular one. A few seats are tucked into one corner, with the counter and pizza slices taking up a fair chunk of the available space. An old Coca Cola machine resides next to the counter, offering a limited selection of cans at $1 per.

The slices offered were a quarter pizza, and approached that fine line of cost to pizza. Coming in at nearly $4 for a slice of pepperoni is stretching it a bit, even if it is a quarter pizza - most places offer similar for a slightly lower price.

As for the pizza itself? It’s only been a short time since getting back from Peter’s Pizzeria, and I’m already starting to forget the pizza. Peter’s offered up the same thing that can be had at any number of small pizzerias in Halifax, and largely fails to stand out from the rest of the crowd. It was a very flat pizza, but not in the way of a thin crust. There was too much cheese, which ended up overwhelming the pizza. The dough was slightly too doughy, hinting that it was perhaps undercooked. There was no stand out flavor, with everything combining for a fairly bland meal.

While Peter’s Pizzeria is only minutes away from Saint Mary’s, making it ideal for a quick slice almost any time of the day (or night), it is not a place I envision getting large droves of university students throughout the year. One experience with the pizza offered up by Peter’s Pizzeria will most likely be enough for the majority of those who happen upon it.

One bright spot for Peter’s Pizzeria was the service, which was above average. We were warmly greeted, and equally warmly given a good-bye as we left. Despite this marvelous customer service, Peter’s Pizzeria will be walking away with only a 2/5 for its thoroughly mundane offering.

I think this review is a bit harsh — I like Peter’s pizza, and I will make a special trip from Clayton Park to get it. I wonder if you prefer thin crust pizza? I like thick, fresh, hand-tossed crust, and I’m finding it harder to locate around Halifax these days. Peter’s met my needs. Cheers!

I’m with Karen on this one. I also go out of my way to get down to Peter’s for a good pizza. I find the sauce much better then the common places in halifax and hand-tossed crust one of the best. Thank you for pointing out the awesome customer service, I was getting worried you were not going to make a mention as I was nearing the end of the review.

ya man really harsh and inaccurate review. I like the pizza at peters and a lot of pizza has way too little cheese. i thought the idea of a review waqs to be slightly objective. maybe you just dont like the things that make other people like peters. so im gonna have to go with karen and craig and say Peter’s has pretty good pizza.

As a SMU student in the early 90’s I literally used to live off the donairs at Peter’s Pizzeria. Usually at least three nights a week I’d wander down to the corner of Inglis and Barrington and get my Super Donair with extra meat. I can’t comment on the pizza but the memories of their donairs is with me until this very day. In fact, I’m visiting Halifax with my wife this summer after ten years away and a Peter’s donair is my first stop!!

Pizza slices are, at best , pedestrian in almost all pizza joints. It’s never a guide as to how the real pizza will taste…..Salvatore’s and Euro pizza, being exceptions. To judge a pizzeria solely on their slices is just plain dumb. Peter’s makes an excellent weighty, tasty, cheese loaded pizza.
