Razzy’s Pizza

I had a goal of trying to eat through one of Razzy’s slices of pizza for a while now. I had heard of the place back when it was known as Rassy’s and heard that it has the biggest slice in the Maritimes. I was intrigued, to say the least.

Finally, months later, we finally made the effort to go to Rassy’s only to discover it was closed. A few days later it was brought to my attention that Razzy’s, just around the corner from the old Rassy’s, wa indeed the same place moved about 20 feet and with ‘z’’s instead of ’s’’s.

After this revelation I was extremely excited. I walked into Razzy’s, ordered me a slice of pepperoni pizza and watched as the guy folded it in half and stuck it on a plate about 432x too small.

That was indeed the largest slice I have seen so far, but that’s where the good ends. I didn’t eat the whole slice out of disgust as after I took my first bite I was thoroughly disappointed. The taste was nothing to speak of, there were gross pools of grease (normally grease means higher qualty cheese, but in this case it was from overall bad ingredients), the crust was poorly done and it was just a rather bad slice.

All in all, it was an interesting experience to see such a large slice, but unfortunately the taste wasn’t up to par. Half-a-slice is all I can justify giving Razzy’s Pizza. It was simply “too much of a bad thing.”

Ok so personally I think Ben is being a little too hard on Razzy’s. For me, Razzy’s gets points for being the biggest slice of pizza I’ve ever seen but honestly, I can’t say that there was anything amazing about the pizza, it was just pizza. I will admit, I didn’t finish mine and by the time I gave up I was pretty much sick of pizza, but I think that it’s one experience everyone should try atleast once. Honestly, when you look back on your life and realized that you had the opportunity to try to scarf down a piece of pizza bigger than your face and didn’t, you’ll be disappointed. So I know we are looking for the “best pizza” and Razzy’s may not be it but I think it’s one slice all Haligonians must try. I would say Razzy’s was way too much of an okay thing, but definatly should not be missed.
